A famous Mexican TV host and her husband are allegedly on the run after a federal judge issued a warrant for their arrest.

Inés Gómez Mont, 38, and her husband, Víctor Manuel Álvarez Puga, a lawyer and businessman, are believed to be in the US, reportedly staying at a home she owns in Miami, Florida.

They are accused of embezzling nearly 3 billion pesos, around £109m, from the Ministry of the Interior in 2016 and 2017, according to Uno TV via People.

Gómez Mont wrote on Instagram that she and her husband “have not had access to that warrant, nor the proof that justifies it,” adding that they “are preparing to face this process and exercise all our rights."

Gómez Mont and Álvarez Puga, who married in 2015, reportedly could face between 20 and 60 years in prison if convicted, according to the New York Post.

The Mexican Attorney General’s Office is requesting that Interpol issue international location and capture orders against Gómez Mont and Álvarez Puga, according to reports.

TV Notas reported that a colleague of Mont's told them that she was putting on a brave face, but that she is "very scared."

"The truth is that she and her husband are up to their necks in these accusations from 2016," the unnamed colleague said.

"This case started years ago, but I don't know why until now the authorities hadn't obtained the arrest warrants against them. Sooner or later, it was going to happen," the unnamed colleague said.

Mont is widely known for proposing to Tom Brady during the 2008 Super Bowl between the New England Patriots and the New York Giants.

He politely declined, telling her: "You are beautiful, and any one who has the opportunity to marry you would be a lucky man."

The same source said that the host is worried because the government "have arrested many characters who seemed untouchable, that has terrified her."
