California earthquake: Powerful 6.0 magnitude quake rocks Lone Pine amid Big One fears

The US Geological Survey (USGS) reports the quake struck 17km south-southeast of Lone Pine. According to a USGS interactive shake map the impact of the earthquake could be felt in the Death Valley National Park.

A news anchor for Fox26 reported feeling the earthquake from his Freso newsroom.

Sharing a video, Michael Ikahihifo tweeted: “We just felt a little shake in our newsroom! Did anyone else feel that?”

One person replied they had felt the quake in Sacramento and another said they had felt it in Pasadena.

California sits along the seismic hotspot known as the Ring of Fire and scientists fear the US state is due to be hit by another major quake known as ‘The Big One’.
