Kevin Gant spent nearly 60 years covering the Royal Family as a photographer, winning many awards in the process. His colourful career also saw him work in war zones around the world. During his time following the British Royals, Mr Gant got to know many of the members of the Firm.

In particular, he struck up a close friendship with William and Harry’s mother.

The famous photographer told the media publication 9Honey that he believed the Queen “would like” the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to resume their careers as working royals.

Asked whether he thought Prince Harry would return to his royal duties one day, Mr Gant replied: “I think he will”.

Referring to Meghan as well, he then added: “And I hope they will.

“I certainly know the Queen would like it, from what I am hearing from people at the palace.”

Harry and Meghan stunned the world when they announced last year they were quitting the Royal Family to create a new life for themselves in America.

The royal couple have since settled down in Montecito, California and have signed a number of blockbuster deals with Netflix and Spotify.

Prince Harry is also planning to publish his memoirs next year, raising fears that he will divulge information that could damage the reputation of the House of Windsor.

Mr Gant was the photographer who took the iconic photograph of Princess Diana standing in front of the pyramids, while on a tour to Egypt in May 1992.

In a previous interview with 9Honey, he revealed how he had coaxed Diana into letting him take the snap, despite her concerns the photo would look “too chocolate-boxey”.

He recounted: “I said to Diana, ‘Ma’am, those pyramids are one of the seven wonders of the world and you are the eighth, we need that picture’ and she said, ‘Well, I can’t refuse that, can I?’.

“And we got that beautiful picture. It was quite amusing, and she often laughed about it later.”
