Kellyn Acosta has had a busy year, being the only American to feature in every match the United States Men’s National Team has played. When the midfielder isn’t donning the red, white and blue, he’s in burgundy.
Acosta’s 2021 for both the USMNT and the Colorado Rapids has been terrific, culminating in a gorgeous set-piece assist on an American game-winning goal. Miles Robinson headed the ball home just before the death in the Gold Cup Final, defeating Mexico for the second time this summer.
When Acosta makes his way back to Commerce City, he’ll join a surging Rapids club currently fourth in Major League Soccer’s Western Conference. Colorado bolstered their attack last week, adding star midfielder Mark-Anthony Kaye from LAFC, and Dominique Badji from Nashville SC.
The Gold Cup win for the Americans comes off of a Nations League title as they build momentum ahead of World Cup qualifying, which begins later this year.
