Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have already recorded their interview with Oprah Winfrey but, according to reports, Prince William still doesn’t have any idea what was said.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed Winfrey to their £11million California home 10 days ago. Precisely what was discussed remains a closely-controlled secret.
The two-hour special broadcast will air on US TV network CBS on Sunday, March 7. According to a press release put out by the network, Oprah initially spoke one-on-one with Meghan before Harry joined them.
The interview is expected to cover the couple’s exit from the Royal Family as well as their philanthropic work to what life has been like living in lockdown with baby Archie.
Although the interview has already been recorded, and is currently being edited, Prince William has reportedly been told nothing about the content of the programme and is not planning on watching it.
A royal "source" told the Mail on Sunday: “Harry and William have not spoken for some time, and Meghan speaking about their relationship or relationships with the Royal Family to Oprah will not help matters.
“Things are still bad between them, although both want to repair that brotherly bond.”
According to the insider, none of the Royal Family have any idea what Harry and Meghan said to Oprah.
“They will find out at the same time as everyone else…although I doubt they’ll watch it,” they added.
Royal biographer Hugo Vickers predicts that the interview will enable the couple to air their grievances against Harry’s family: "I imagine the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will just have one long whinge to Oprah Winfrey. It’s all about their self-promotion."
The Oprah production team was told that “nothing was off-limits” in the exclusive interview – and several UK broadcasters are bidding feverishly for the rights to broadcast the programme.
“I’m told that nothing is off-limits, nothing is off-limits,” CBS This Morning host Gayle King said. “She can ask anything she wants.”
“A lot of people wanted this interview. I’m so glad that we got it. I’m very curious.”
The Daily Star has contacted representatives for Prince William and Prince Harry for a comment on the reports.
